Message from the Dean

Talofa Lava,

E mua’i fa’atulou atu i ou pa’ia Samoa, o ou sā e lē ‘avea mai le vavau auā e lē gafataulimaina e lo’u faatauva’a. Talofa lava, malo le soifua manuia.

One behalf of the Faculty of Education staff and students, I extend a very warm welcome to you all. I am delighted and very humbled to have taken up this Deanship role within the Faculty of Education at the National University of Samoa. Formerly known as the Teachers Training College for Samoa, we have come a long way, and I must acknowledge the leadership and commitment by everyone who have been part of this journey.

Samoa has a youthful population and so the future of our nation lies within the hands of our educators. Our mission states that “Every Child in Samoa has the right to be taught by a well qualified teacher”. At the Faculty of Education, all our programs are fully accredited by Samoa Qualification Authority.  We offer programs for teacher training in the areas of Early Childhood Education – ECE, Primary, Secondary and Inclusive Education. These are available at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level using the various delivery modes like face to face, online using moodle platform/zoom and in class (dual delivery) and ODL – online distance learning in both our main campuses at Le Papaigalagala and Salelologa campus in Savaii. Our programmes also provide opportunities for us to work closely with the Ministry of Education and Culture in sponsoring students and liaising with local school teachers for Teaching Practicum.

We have highly qualified staff with years of teaching experiences who can provide advice and support our students. Staff are also involved in collaborative research with other universities outside of Samoa to continuously upskill them in their areas of teaching.

E tāua le ola a’oa’oina o fanau mo se lumana’i manuia o Samoa.

O le fatu o lena ola a’oa’oina, o faiā’oga ua mafatotoga mo lona vala’auina.

Tavu’i Dr. Niusila Faamanatu-Eteuati

Dean: Faculty of Education
