US Embassy Donates Over 100 Medical Books to NUS

Apia, Samoa – 7th June, 2023. Apia, Samoa – The National University of Samoa (NUS) received a generous donation of morethan 100 medical books from the US Embassy Charge d’Affaires Noriko Horiuchi this morning.

The books were donated to the NUS – Faculty of Health Science (FOHS) as part of the US Embassy’s ongoing commitment to support and enhance medical and health education in Samoa. The books cover a wide range of medical topics, including anatomy, pharmacology, pathology, and surgery, among others.

During the handover ceremony, Charge d’Affaires Horiuchi expressed her delight at being able to support the future nurses and doctors of Samoa in the NUS School of Nursing (SoN) and School of Medicine (SOM) under the Faculty of Health Science. She emphasized the importance of education and access to quality medical resources in ensuring that the people of Samoa receive the best possible healthcare.

Associate Professor Tuifuisa’a Patila Amosa, NUS Vice Chancellor and President, expressed her gratitude for the generous donation and highlighted the importance of such resources for both our Nursing and Medical Schools. She emphasized that these books would be a valuable addition to the University’s library and would benefit students and faculty staff alike.

The NUS – Faculty of Health Science (FOHS) is committed to providing the highest standard of medical education to our students and contributing to the health and well-being of the people of Samoa.

The National University of Samoa appreciates this donation and looks forward to continued collaboration with the US Embassy in Samoa.
