The rain proved to be no deterrent to an inaugural mixed 7-a-side soccer tournament held at the National University of Samoa (NUS) on Saturday.

Organised by the NUS Staff Soccer Club, the 16 teams which participated ignored the weather and played three games each in two pools stopping only for barbecue and drinks. The teams consisted of four men and three women.

President of NUS-SSC, Tafeamali’i Aukusitino Duseigneur said their club had decided to host the tournament to raise the necessary registration fees so they could participate in the Samoa Soccer Federation’s Business House tournament which will be held in July.
